Press Release – PIECE Project Final Conference and Transnational Project Meeting in Lisbon

Showcasing the results of Digital Product Passport (DPP) training for the European battery industry

Lisbon, 21-22 October 2025 – The PIECE project concluded its activities with a Final Conference and Transnational Project Meeting (TPM).

Hosted by EWF, the two-day event gathered representatives from all project partners –, FAN3D (Portugal), AIMEN (Spain), Minespider (Germany), ASA (Belgium) and Olife (Czech Republic) – along with industry experts and VET professionals from across Europe.

The Final Conference gathering 75 participants and TPM marked a key milestone in the project’s dissemination phase. Participants explored the PIECE training framework implementation, which equips professionals in the battery value chain with essential skills for managing digital product data, compliance, and sustainability performance.

During the conference, project partners presented the results of the main work packages, highlighting the development of:

  • Competence units and learning outcomes for DPP-related training;
  • A three-level modular training structure (Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced);
  • Assessment tools and user guides for trainers and learners;
  • Digital resources to support continuous learning and adoption of DPP principles in industry.

These results directly address the growing need for digital readiness and traceability in manufacturing, ensuring that VET systems are aligned with the EU’s digital and green transition goals.

The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to further cooperation beyond PIECE, exploring future opportunities to expand DPP-related training and apply project results to other industrial sectors.

Multiplier Events: Promoting PIECE Results Across Europe

In the months leading up to the Lisbon conference, six National Multiplier Events were organised across Europe – in Denmark, Belgium, Czech Republic, Portugal, Spain, and Germany – engaging over 120 stakeholders from education, industry, and policy. These events played a pivotal role in promoting the uptake of PIECE results at national level, fostering dialogue between training providers and industry, and supporting the implementation of DPP skills and tools in different European contexts.

Together, the national events and the Lisbon conference have planted the seeds for a European community of practice dedicated to advancing DPP education and digital innovation in the battery and manufacturing sectors. As the project comes to an end, partners remain committed to disseminating results and promoting DPP training through their networks, digital channels, and professional communities. The PIECE outcomes are expected to have a long-term impact, strengthening DPP competence, circular economy skills, and industrial innovation across Europe’s VET and manufacturing ecosystems.
