Sharing project results: the Digital Product Passport training for the battery industry in the spotlight in national multiplier events.
The PIECE project – Digital Product Passport (DPP) training to support the battery industry’s transition toward the EU Circular Economy – has reached one of its most impactful stages: the dissemination of results across Europe.
Between September and October 2025, consortium partners hosted a series of National Multiplier Events and a European Final Conference to showcase project outcomes, promote DPP readiness in the battery sector, and strengthen collaboration between VET providers, industry, and policymakers.
Six National Multiplier Events Across Europe
Each partner organised a National Multiplier Event for the presentation of results in their respective country, bringing together around 120 participants in total. These events took place in:
- Denmark – UddannelsesCenter Ringkøbing Skjern (UCRS)
- Belgium – ASA asbl
- Czech Republic – Olife Corporation
- Portugal – FAN – Consultoria em Engenharia
- Spain – AIMEN – Asociación de Investigación Metalúrgica del Noroeste
- Germany – Minespider GmbH
Each event gathered around 20 key stakeholders, including VET trainers and learners, industry representatives, and national policymakers, to explore and discuss the project’s key outputs.
Promoting PIECE Results and Impact
The events were designed to ensure that the PIECE project results – including the Digital Product Passport training framework, competence units, assessment tool, and user guides – are adopted and implemented at national level.
Participants had the opportunity to:
- Discover the three-level training structure developed within PIECE (Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced modules);
- Explore innovative training materials and digital learning resources;
- Engage in discussions on how DPP skills can accelerate transformation and ensure sustainability in the European battery value chain.
By connecting education and industry, the PIECE project supports the transition to a more digital and circular manufacturing sector, empowering professionals with the skills needed to manage and apply DPP systems effectively.
Towards a European Community of Practice
Beyond the national events, a European Final Conference took place in Portugal on 21 October 2025, hosted by EWF. This event brought together more than 70 participants from across Europe, acting in the battery industry or in areas where DPP can be implemented.
The Final Conference showcased the project’s overall achievements and underlined PIECE’s significant contribution to enhancing skills and expanding knowledge on Digital Product Passport (DPP) applications within the battery industry. Notably, 40% of participants indicated that they are likely to apply the PIECE outcomes in their professional activities, while 64% considered that the training materials developed within the project help strengthen organisations’ capacity to implement DPPs in the battery sector.
The multiplier events, together with the Final Conference, have planted the seeds for a European community of practice, ensuring the sustainability and continued use of PIECE results beyond the project’s lifetime.
Sustaining the PIECE Legacy All project partners will continue to promote PIECE outcomes nationally and internationally through their networks, digital platforms, and professional communities. By doing so, they will help maintain momentum, foster knowledge sharing, and inspire future initiatives that advance digital skills, circular economy practices, and innovation across Europe’s mobility and manufacturing ecosystems.
